Volunteering is a great way to help SCAP in our fight again AIDS! We invite you to help whether you can give a few hours each month or a few days each year. Volunteer opportunities and availability vary throughout the year If you are interested in any volunteer opportunity below please contact us 719-578-9092

  • Food Pantry: Assist with SCAP’s food pantry. Greet clients, process client food orders, and hand out completed orders to clients. Sort donations and stock pantry shelves. Perform basic housekeeping duties in the food pantry area.

  • Reception Desk: Staff SCAP’s front desk. Answer telephone, screen and direct calls, greet persons entering the office, schedule HIV and Hepatitis C testing appointments, assist with preparing bulk mailings, and assist with preparing prevention supplies.

  • Access Point Pueblo: Assist with SCAP’s syringe access program. Duties may include greeting clients, conducting intakes, delivering risk reduction information, and filling bags with supplies for clients. Note: Transportation is available from the SCAP office in Colorado Springs to Crossroads Turning Points in Pueblo. Transportation leaves Colorado Springs at Noon and returns by 5pm.

  • Mobile Testing Assistant: Assist with HIV/Hepatitis C testing at offsite locations. Greet and check in clients. Collect basic demographic information. Describe the testing process.

  • SCAP Table Representative: Staff the SCAP table at various community events and festivals. Answer basic questions about HIV prevention, SCAP services, and recruit volunteers. Distribute risk reduction materials.

  • Bar Outreach Team: Represent SCAP at local bars. Team members will have one-on-one conversations with bar patrons where they will promote risk reduction behaviors including PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis). Promote SCAP PrEP support services and testing services.

  • Prevention Materials Assistant: Prepare various prevention materials. Tasks could include placing SCAP stickers on condoms, filling mini bleach bottles, and delivering materials to local organizations.
